Rovers again failed to capitialize on the majority of the possession against a well organised Owls. The Rovers never really looked like scoring and the long grass affected their usual passing game. Marshall and Marsden both went close early on, but the Owls took the lead from a free kick. The second period was much the same. The Rovers eventually broke through when Marshall's fine run and cross was turned in by Cruse. Rovers went close on several occasions through Robbins & Marsden, but it was the Owls who again nudged in front when again hesitant defending allowed another scrappy goal. Rovers misery was complete when Southcott snatched a third on the whistle from another free kick.
