Rovers turned in another soild performance against City colts. There were always in control and took the lead from Marshall's through ball fired home By Cruse off the bar. Soon it was 2-0 when Marsden's fine chip released Marshall who chipped the advancing keeper, and Agnew fired home for his first Rovers goal. Britten & Robbins both made crucial tackles in midfield, to break up promising attacks. Woodford was also playing well in defence. Martin in goal was rarely troubled, but when called upon was quick to react. The second period was a bit more even with City colts starting the better, but gradually Rovers got back on top and extended their lead. Marsden released Marshall who beat the full back and fired a great cross that was hammered home by Cruse. And within 2 minutes it was 4, Robbins again broke up play and fed Marsden, he fed the ball into Agnew whose flicked on to Marshall, whose fine first time pass split the defence for Cruse to run on to and finish in style. Colts did get a consolation on full time but Rovers were worthy winners.
