MJFC is a winner again at the BBFA Awards!
Last week, the Berks and Bucks FA hosted the 2020 FA and McDonald’s Grassroots Football Awards.
Like many recent events it was hosted virtually, as they wanted to celebrate the fantastic work of people who put their heart and soul into the grassroots game across England – and say a huge thank you to the incredible volunteers.
We are delighted to say that Moretonville JFC won “Grounds Team of the Year”. This is an extraordinary result considering we have not had anyone volunteer for the Grounds Person role for over 4 years and the issues with vandalism and litter etc over the last year.
The majority of the planning work has been split between a couple of current committee members (Michael Turner and Phil Drew) but in the main by our amazing grounds contractor Dave Gowton from Escapes Landscaping – to whom we’d like to express our deepest thanks and to whom the award is dedicated.
This award recognises the extensive background work to address the pitches. As a reminder we have organised:
- soil surveys
- vertiquaking
- spiking treatments
- purchased more wheeled goals
- purchased a mole plough
- purchased a sand spreader
- used that sand spreader to spread over 160 tons of sand!
This is just the start of the journey and improvements will take time but with the RLS 3G pitch also opening its an exciting time for the club.
All of this has been achieved through the 50 for 50 fundraising, which so many of you have been involved in, and for which you should be very proud.
